Our Trip: Part One

One of the highlights of our trip was stopping at the Atherton family home on our way to Ohio.  We met Mr. Atherton and his daughters at the "Father and Daughter" retreat a couple of years ago.  Since then, I've corresponded with Victoria and we were really excited for this opportunity for our families to get together.  We greatly enjoyed the time of fellowship and it was very nice to be able to meet and visit with the rest of their family as well.

After dinner, we had a fun time playing some games.  The Atherton's taught us how to play "Upset the Fruit Basket".  We had a great playing the game!!

In our places.

Next we had a great time playing "Dutch Blitz" (quite similar to "Nertz") with giants size cards!!!  We divided up into teams and we each had our own team name as well.

"The Sailing Sisters"

"The Green Mountain Boy"

"Suspense"

"The Quartet"

More playing.

Some of the movie "Pendragon: Sword of His Father" was filmed on their property.  It was really neat to see some of the places in person!  After the games, we headed out to the horse barn where all of the stable scenes were shot and the kids got to ride on one of the horses.

Then, we got pictures in the horse stalls that Artos and Wenneveria used.

Next, we went to their cellar which was used as the dungeon in "Pendragon".

(Note: The Atherton's have canned rows and rows of fruit, veggies, jam etc. It was so neat to see all of them!)

Happy New Year!!!

New year greetings to everyone!!!  May you have a blessed day and blessed 2010!!!

After a couple weeks of being down with a sickness that is going around, I'm back to blogging with a few new posts below!!  Thankfully, we are on the road to recovery (just a few eye infections left!)  So, we praise the Lord for that.

Even though we were sick, we did have a wonderful time with daddy as we enjoyed his two-week break over the holidays.  We just spent time as a family playing games, spending time together and discussing goals for the new year.  You would not have wanted to be here with us though as we had eye infections, ear infections, head colds, coughs and sore throats.  Can you believe it!!! :)

As a quick note on some news from our family, Shenandoah is now an official "walker"!!!  She is walking all over the place trying to keep up with everybody.  It is so cute! :)

Snow

We got snow!!!  A couple of weeks ago, we did end up getting our first snow of the season.  We actually only got about 2 1/2 inches.  But, some friends of ours who live to the east and south of us got 8-12 inches!!!

Fresh snow at sunset.

A closer look at the sky.  Isn't it beautiful?
