Mr. Oren Lee Peters

A few weeks ago, we had the opportunity to go to the Thomas's house to listen to Mr. Oren Lee Peters, a WWII veteran, tell his story.  What a wonderful experience!  We are so thankful for his willingness to share with us.  We have so much to be thankful for  - thank you for fighting for our country!

 Mr. Oren Lee Peters

 Listening

Talking with him afterwards - Sayer was especially excited to hear that he flew in a B-17! :)

All of us (minus Shenandoah who was asleep on the floor!) with Mr. Peters

I really enjoyed listening to more of his stories afterwards.  It was wonderful being able to visit with him.
Mr. Peters told the story of each of his medals to us.

I have some videos I wanted to upload too, by our blog isn't wanting to do video.  I'll have to try again another time!

Savannah,
I was sorting through some old things yesterday and discovered a letter from you from 2008! On it, you gave me your blog address, and I wondered, "could they still be keeping up with their blog?" So I was delighted to visit and find that you are still posting and that your family is thriving and doing well.

We met at the Jamestown Quadricentennial back in '07 and corresponded for awhile after that, if you recall. Anyways, I look forward to keeping up with the Cochran Family doings! Lauren and I also keep a blog at www.onebrightcorner.blogspot.com, where you can catch up on all of my family's happenings of late.

Have a blessed day, Savannah!

Thanks for following and commenting! I just followed you, so now I'll be sure to keep up with you. Blogging has been a fabulous way for me to connect and reconnect with brothers and sisters in Christ, and I love the edifying, stimulating atmosphere!

I have to agree with you that it is indeed quite incredible that Jamestown was 4.5 years ago. I had the opportunity to talk with the Botkin sisters in April, and they were communicating what a special, precious event that was--how many close friendships were forged, how unified the vision was, and even all the marriages they know of that came out of that one event! (We know of one, and they knew several couples, I guess.) Anyways, it is definitely a treasured memory, and you are among the treasured friendships I made, so I am delighted to get to know you once again.

Savannah,
I just had to drop you and the other cooks in your family a note to tell you that I made the White Chili tonight and it was WONDERFUL! Hit the spot for this hungry momma, my famished farmer and our growing goober! I love that it's practically all protein, yum! We were filled by just one bowl(rare) so I might actually have some to freeze! ;) Thank you for giving us the recipe!
Glad we got to visit so much on Saturday, especially since all we really got to say was "hi" on Sunday! Praying you have another week of feeling better! :D

Hi Katelyn!!

Thanks for the fun comment!! :) So glad you all enjoyed the chili!!

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed visiting with you on Saturday - so fun!! And we are going to have to do something about the only "hi" thing on Sunday - that's terrible! :) I was hoping to talk to you more, but we'll have to make a point next Sunday.

Thanks for the prayers and encoragement - I so appreciate it and I'm still feeling better, so that's great! Praying God's blessings on your week too and I hope the fencing goes great!

I just stumbled across your family blog. It looks like you guys are doing most things right. I say most things because no one is perfect, but it looks like you have focused on the important things in life. Keep working at it! You have a lovely family. And thanks for your service to our country as well.

Hey Savannah!

I just wanted to apologize for how longs it's taking me to reply to your letter! I had hopes of replying quite a while back, but have been so busy of late that it wasn't possible. You're not forgotten & I will be writing before too much longer, Lord willing. Blessings to you & your family!

Love,
Amy
