Titanic 100 ~ 1912-2012

One hundred years ago today the world was in shock.  The unsinkable Titanic struck an iceberg just before midnight on the 14th and in the early hours of the 15th went down with great loss of life.  For more detailed information on the story of the Titanic and the principle of "Woman and Children First", please visit Mr. Phillips blog.  I've enjoyed reading these posts and I think you will too!!

The story of the Titanic has fascinated me ever since I can remember.  I think I was intrigued not only by Titanic's story, but even more by the bravery of the men as well.  The legacy of "Woman and Children First" is something that too many people have forgotten today.  I believe it's important that we remember the sacrifices of the many who have gone before us and teach them to our children.

A couple of years ago I wrote the last living survivor of the Titanic, Ms. Milvian Dean. She has since passed away, but the handwritten letter I received in return is very much a treasure I will cherish forever. I wish I had a picture of the letter I could share with you, but it's at home in Oklahoma.  I'll have to post a picture of it when we return from Germany. :)

The following is a little slideshow that I put together in honor of this anniversary. I hope you enjoy it!!!

Blessings to you all,

~ Savannah

I would love to see your letter sometime! It is really amazing, because a great-grandaughter of Harry Holman's commented on Susanna's guest post on the Titanic on our blog, so that was quite thrilling!

That is really neat!! I think I'll do another Titanic post when we get home and I'll post a picture of the letter. :)
