Pointe du Hoc May 5th, 2012

Our next stop for the day was Pointe du Hoc.  That was one of our favorite spots because it has been fairly untouched since the war.  It's still complete with ruins and bomb craters.

Off we go!

It looks like the surface of the moon.

In a bomb crater.

The memorial to the Rangers who took Pointe du Hoc.

Can you imagine trying to climb up this?!

Look at all the shell marks.

Down in the bunker.

The bunker from the outside.

Family picture in the bunker.

Looking out of the bunker through the barbed wire and across at the cliffs.

Shenandoah found a hole in the wall. :)
